Chris is a Senior Associate at Serious Law having stared his legal career in 2008 and joined the firm in 2014. He has amassed extensive experience in dealing with all types of serious injury and major trauma cases arising from a broad range of circumstances including road traffic accidents, clinical negligence, accidents at work, public liability cases and criminal assault.
His current case load and recent settlements include cases involving traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, birth injuries, complex orthopaedic and spinal orthopaedic matters.
He has personally handled cases from inception to conclusion with multi-million pound settlements.
In this case, our client attended hospital for routine spinal surgery to replace a disc in their spine. After the first operation, they were initially rendered tetraplegic. Urgent follow up surgery was undertaken to attempt to revise the initial surgery but with only limited success. Our client was permanently rendered paraplegic. A seven-figure settlement was achieved for our client.
This case, involved a former client who had previously suffered minor injuries in a road traffic accident. Tragically, her injuries on this occasion were a great deal more serious.
Benjamin sustained life changing injuries as a result of a spinal abscess not being properly diagnosed. This resulted in a range of problems for our client, including organ failure and reduced power to his lower limbs.
Martin sustained serious injuries to both his spine and knee as a result of a head on road traffic accident. Liability was difficult to prove in this case due to an unclear insurance policy on the defendant's part. A five-figure settlement was eventually achieved for our client.
Hillary was involved in a serious road traffic accident which resulted in a range of orthopaedic injuries including a very serious fracture to the top of her left leg and a moderate serious fracture to her right leg.
Jeremy sustained a range or orthopaedic injuries after a car, travelling in the opposite direction, turned across his path. Although no contact was made, our client was forced to take action to avoid a collision which resulted in him falling from his bicycle.
Sarah's parents transferred instructions to Serious Law 6 months after her accident, as they wanted to ensure that their daughter's case was being handled by a specialist serious injury solicitors, given the severity of her injuries and the liability dispute.
Richard was involved in a serious motorcycle accident caused by the dangerous driving of the defendant. As a result of the accident, our client was left with a severe traumatic brain injury which had wide ranging implications for him and his family.
Caroline suffered irreversible damage following a surgical error during cervical spine surgery. Caroline was left paralysed from the chest down with loss of function and sensation, leaving her entirely dependent upon others.
George sustained a catastrophic brain injury in a road traffic accident whilst travelling as a passenger in a friend's car.
Acting for a child pedestrian knocked down by a bus whilst walking home from school. The case involved a very complex liability dispute and quantum also proved difficult due to the severity of the injuries and the extent of the Client’s recovery. This case required a very prolonged input to monitor the Claimant’s development from childhood through to her college years with an assessment on the injury had affected her educational and career trajectory, thereby supporting a claim for future loss of earnings. Ultimately a very favourable settlement was achieved.
Representing an elderly client following very serious injuries sustained when he was struck by a van whilst waiting to cross the road. Addressing complex liability and contributory negligence issues in respect of a lack of footpaths in the area, a very unusual junction arrangement, challenging weather conditions and positioning of the Claimant and the vehicle involved. The client was ably repressed by his very caring and eloquent family. His son acted as litigation friend, coordinating valuable input from all of the client’s children and wife. Achieving an excellent settlement combining a lump sum and periodical payments to reflect a dispute regarding life expectancy. Representing the Claimant at the approval hearing along with Leading Counsel and the litigation friend.
Acting on a behalf of a paraplegic client who sustained injury during a routine back operation. Achieving an early admission of liability with the effective use of the litigation process and securing a very large interim payment to allow the Client to acquire a suitable property and implement a private care regime at an early stage in her case. Ultimately guiding the Claimant through the litigation process and achieving a multimillion pound settlement and ongoing annual payments to fund the Claimant’s lifetime need for care.
"My family and I chose Serious Law LLP to work on my father’s serious injury case after meeting with one of their Partners, Ben Priestley. It was an extremely traumatic time for us, but he was considerate and discussed our options with compassion. His knowledge and experience impressed us, and he was transparent about the whole process. This came in stark contrast to another firm we spoke to. They acted more like car salesmen, and couldn’t give us any of the answers that we desperately needed. Christopher Lecky also worked on the case, and he was equally fantastic. He always gave prompt responses to our questions and concerns, and made efforts to explain everything in detail to us. At the end of the case, Ben, Chris and our barrister worked closely with my family and me for the Joint Settlement Meeting. It stood out to us how they treated us as equal members of the team, and they achieved a fair and excellent outcome. I class Serious Law’s services at the very top-of-the-range. I’d like to thank them, Ben and Christopher in particular, for their measured, knowledgeable and thorough work. I can’t fault either of them. My whole family and I appreciate it, and we have no hesitation in recommending Serious Law.Mr E, son and litigation friend of client with spinal cord, orthopaedic and head injuries"Chris Lecky – experienced and more than competent enough to be a partner, and making the very best of the learning opportunities he has been given. The Legal 500"Chris Lecky is an excellent solicitor.
