Matthew Dixon

Matthew is a solicitor, partner, and the head of litigation at Serious Law.

He co-founded the firm in 1989 (then known as Sherrington Law) and successfully created a legal practice focused solely on personal injury litigation.

As the head of litigation, Matthew has represented thousands of clients throughout his career. He specialises in serious injury claims as a result of road traffic accidents and in employment; as well as clinical negligence cases involving brain and spinal injuries; amputation; and multiple fractures.

In view of Matthew's extensive experience, he regularly assists on cases involving complex and technical liability issues, regularly achieving success on cases previously rejected by other law firms.

Matthew has a dual qualification, first as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1995 and then as a solicitor in 1998, the same year that he became partner of Serious Law.

In his spare time Matthew enjoys an active lifestyle, regularly going for walks and mountain biking with his wife and three children. He is also an extremely competitive sportsman who enjoys playing football, squash, badminton and golf.

Recent Case Summaries

Sophie sustained multiple orthopaedic injuries after her bicycle was caught by a passing tractor, resulting in her being dragged under the vehicle and the attached slurry tanker.

Mr W was involved in serious, late night road traffic accident. As a result of the accident our client sustained a serious head injury which caused a traumatic bleed on the brain and associated problems.

Edward was riding his bicycle on the near size of a lorry as they approached a pedestrian crossing. As the lights turned amber the lorry driver decided to try and 'beat the lights' resulting in a collision with our client.

Anthony sustained a serious head injury at work when he fell from a platform into an inspection pit. He was taken to hospital and his head injury was treated but he was not sent for any radiological investigations. Days after being discharged our client returned to hospital due to the continued pain that he was feeling where it was determined that he had at least one fracture to his neck along with possible spinal cord damage.

Patrick suffered multiple orthopaedic injuries including a fractured ankle and elbow a result of his accident and later developed post traumatic stress disorder.

In this case, our client was a cyclist involved in a road traffic accident where the Defendant made a right turn across our client's path, causing a collision. Our client was thrown from his bicycle and sustained serious injuries.

In this case our client sustained a serious back injury as a result of a workplace accident.

Alan sustained a fractured spine as a result of an accident at work. On the day of the accident, our client was working as a self-employed labourer working as a subcontractor in the process of removing a lift car from a residential tower block when the lift car dropped down the shaft and our client fell approximately 3 metres.
